Yidi Chen
Engineering Student
Hi, I'm Yidi, an Engineering Student based in Tempe, Arizona. I specialize in web development, robot programming, and STEM outreach.
About Me
Hey! My name is Yidi Chen, I'm a Tempe native and a third-year engineering student at Corona Del Sol High School. I have a passion for technology, robotics, and inspiring others, and I'm always eager to take on new challenges. Beyond high school, I intend to pursue a career in engineering.
Throughout my time in the engineering program I've documented my growth across four core competency articles: covering the Design Process, Mathematics, Scientific Principles, and Engineering Tools. Each one traces how I applied a foundational engineering principle to a real project: from building a prosthetic hand and a balsa wood bridge, to calculating rocket apogee with trigonometry and operating professional-grade fabrication tools.
Writing and reflecting on those projects has made me a significantly sharper thinker. More than any single skill, the program taught me how to close the loop and treat every test result, failure, or measurement as information that feeds directly back into the next design decision. That feedback-loop mindset is what separates structured engineering from guesswork, and it's become the way I approach problems both in and out of the classroom.
